Education & Experience
- Experience with global online regulations and responsible gambling practices (MGA - Malta Gaming Authority & UKGC – United Kingdom Gambling Commission)
- Advantageous - degree in law, business administration, accounting, finance, or another related field
- 5+ years of experience in a senior compliance role in the regulated territory within the gaming industry
- 7+ years of experience in general compliance
- Previous experience in a similar role within the online gambling industry
Purpose of Job:
The Head of Compliance is responsible for safeguarding Dream Team Gaming's integrity and reputation by ensuring that the company operates in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. This includes developing and implementing a comprehensive compliance program, overseeing marketing and affiliate compliance, conducting risk assessments, and monitoring and reporting on compliance performance. The Head of Compliance also plays a key role in educating and training staff on compliance issues and keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape, specifically those related to the MGA.
The Department:
As our organization continues to experience rapid expansion and growth, we are seeking a dedicated Head of Compliance to join our team. This department, led by the Head of Legal and Compliance, is committed to upholding a secure and responsible gambling environment, ensuring compliance with regulations, and effectively managing and mitigating risks in the online gambling industry. This function will also work closely with the Fraud and Risk Department.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The position will involve the following areas of responsibility:
Business Processes
KPI: Regulatory and Compliance Services.
Output: Provides an oversight of business regulatory obligations and implements independent monitoring plans.
Task: Identifies and assesses regulatory compliance. Consults with business and advises on new legislation or legislative changes. Assists with implementing controls and processes to ensure compliance. Ensures that level of compliance is monitored, reviewed, and reported on. Development of the regulatory universe detailing business requirements and applicable laws to the entity. This includes:
- Create compliance risk management programme.
- Provides risk ratings in terms of critical versus topical risk factors.
- Establish controls to mitigate risk and in collaboration with Line Management.
- Develop monitoring plan and test adequacy of controls based on representative samples of environment.
- Develops reports of findings and provides overall feedback and recommendations to business.
- Seeks agreement on findings to increase adoption of risk mitigation initiatives.
KPI: Compliance and Governance.
Output: Ensures internal controls are in place to enable compliance with governmental and regulatory body conduct and reporting requirements.
Task:
- Designs governance and compliance framework, taking all regulatory requirements into account (specifically that of the MGA and UKGC).
- Designs best practice policies and translates these into business terms.
- Ensures communication and updating of legislative changes and their implications on the business systems.
- Focuses on solutions-driven responses to obstacles threatening good governance and challenges the status quo within the organisation.
KPI: Strategic Support Services.
Output: Provides support to the business through planned interventions.
Task:
- Provides strategic support through involvement in management meetings and acts.
- Initiates and facilitates training on up-and-coming regulations to ensure effective implementation and compliance to new legislation.
- Supports Dream Team Gaming and associate in the establishment of a compliance culture through various initiatives such as updates through an electronic newsletter workshops, and information sessions.
KPI: Strategic projects.
Output: Plays advisory role in strategic projects related to Legal implications and impact for the group.
Task:
- Considers various forms of Regulatory risk related to companywide projects.
- Provides sound Regulatory advice and strategic support to business.
KPI: Risk Management.
Output: Identifies and manages business risk.
Task:
- Identifies risk related to non-adherence related to legislation and the impact thereof.
- Controls, manages, and governs the processes and systems within area of accountability to ensure compliance and minimise the business risk.
- Implements all audit recommendations in Compliance department.
- Controls and governs the processes and systems within defined and approved structures and frameworks. Implements audit recommendations for systems and processes in area. Provides mitigative solutions to all audit outcomes, as and when required.
KPI: Marketing Compliance.
Output: Manages marketing compliance end to end.
Task:
- Evaluate and approve all communications, internally and externally, to ensure that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing compliance program that aligns with the company's overall compliance strategy.
- Conduct regular compliance audits of marketing activities to identify and address potential violations.
- Investigate potential violations of marketing compliance policies and procedures.
- Provide training to marketing staff on compliance requirements.
- Stay up to date on changes in applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Represent the company to regulatory authorities on marketing compliance matters.
- Work closely with other departments, such as Legal and Affiliate Management, to ensure that marketing activities are compliant.
- Identify and assess marketing compliance risks.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and maintain compliance documentation.
KPI: Affiliate Compliance.
Output: Manages affiliates compliance end to end.
Task:
- Review and approve all affiliate agreements to ensure that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor affiliate traffic and activity to identify any suspicious or fraudulent activity, such as spikes in traffic from specific sources or unusual click-through rates.
- Investigate reports of affiliate compliance violations, such as allegations of spam or using unauthorized marketing tactics.
- Act against affiliates who violate the company's affiliate marketing policies and procedures, such as suspending or terminating their affiliate agreements.
- Develop and implement affiliate compliance policies and procedures, such as policies on the use of trademarks and copyrights and the types of marketing tactics that affiliates are allowed to use.
- Train staff on affiliate compliance issues, such as the company's affiliate marketing policies and procedures and the latest changes to laws and regulations that affect affiliate marketing.
Finance
KPI: Finance (Budget).
Output: Provides input into the budget and controls expenditure.
Task:
- Gives input into the budgeting process and monitors costs for the financial year according to the operational plan.
